Itinerary breakdown

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where your safari guide greets you with a warm Kenyan welcome. Drive to Emara Ole Sereni Hotel, a luxurious city-edge retreat overlooking Nairobi National Park. Settle in and unwind before gathering in the evening for a special welcome dinner and safari briefing, setting the tone for the incredible journey ahead.

Day 2–3: Samburu National Reserve

Head north into Kenya’s untamed wilderness, crossing dramatic landscapes and remote villages en route to Samburu National Reserve. For the next two days, embark on game drives in search of the Samburu Special Five – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Alongside these rare species, you’ll encounter elephants splashing in the Ewaso Nyiro River, graceful cheetahs stalking the plains, and the dazzling birdlife of the north. Retreat to Ashnil Samburu Camp, where the safari continues from your veranda overlooking the river.

Day 4: Aberdares National Park

After breakfast, journey into the lush central highlands and check in at the iconic The Ark Lodge. This unique tree-lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole, drawing elephants, buffalo, bushbuck, and even elusive leopards throughout the day and night. From the comfort of the viewing decks, enjoy an uninterrupted wildlife spectacle, unlike anywhere else in Kenya.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park

Descend into the Great Rift Valley, where Lake Nakuru National Park awaits with its acacia woodlands and shimmering lake shores. On your afternoon game drive, track rhinos grazing in the open grasslands, flocks of flamingoes painting the lake pink, and tree-climbing lions resting in the shade. At day’s end, settle into Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, perfectly perched with panoramic views across the park.

Day 6–7: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Cross rolling hills into the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s crown jewel of safari. Spend two full days on exhilarating game drives, watching prides of lions in action, elephants in great herds, and cheetahs sprinting across the savannah. If visiting between July and October, witness the Great Migration, as wildebeest and zebras thunder across the Mara River. Evenings are spent at Ilkeliani Camp, an eco-luxury tented camp blending modern comforts with the raw beauty of the wilderness.

Day 8: Lake Naivasha

Drive to the tranquil shores of Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake teeming with hippos and birdlife. In the afternoon, enjoy a serene boat ride to spot kingfishers, pelicans, and fish eagles, before stepping ashore on Crescent Island for a guided walk among giraffes, zebras, and antelopes roaming in the wild. Rest for the night at Sawela Lodge, nestled amidst lush gardens by the lake.

Day 9: Return to Nairobi / Departure

After breakfast, bid farewell to Kenya’s wild landscapes as you drive back to Nairobi. Your safari concludes with a drop-off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Africa’s greatest wilderness.
